Hello ya'll! GodlyGirlhood.org is now
published! Not all pages are complete, as I am
still transferring much of the material from here
to there. I will try to continue to edit and and
finish GodlyGirlhood.org as soon as I can, but I
am also now taking on my church's web designing.
I am glad to be using my artistic abilities and
computer skills to help further God's kingdom and
encourage those around me. May God bless your
day. By the way, today is my little brother
Caleb's fifth birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I apologize for my tardiness of updating Godly
Girlhood; things have been busy at the Triple F
Ranch. I have been recently spending much time
helping set up and prepare my family's new
website for our ministry. To visit Great
Adventure Family Ministries' website, click here . We are pleased
with the "finished-for-now" product and hope
you'll visit soon to learn more about Great
Adventure Family Ministries and our family.

On a side note, I would like to share something
of great significance in my life (I'm not
bragging here): a drawing I drew placed second in
my category in the recent Home School Legal
Defense Association's art contest. I had entered
back in January and was notified in April of my
placing second. What an honor! <a

Modesty and Fashion: Is there a problem?

Modesty and Fashion: Is there a problem?

I have heard many young ladies comment to me
about modesty and fashion. Perhaps you have
heard or said some of these statements below?

"It's okay to be modest and be in style."

"Fashion doesn't have to end where modesty
begins."

"Everyone else is trendy and I'm so out of place."

"Why can't I fit in?"

I have understanding for these comments as I
myself have definately pondered over the style
vs. modesty/modesty and fashion myself. Yet, I
have come to the point where something seems
twisted. I ask myself:

What is the focus?

Focus; the word applies to every single area of
our lives as Christians.

What is the focus?

In my opinion, the above comments are deluged
anbd twisted by the devil to sound appetizing to
us easily-swayed women. The goal is to get our
focus off the Lord.

How do we lose our focus through thoughts and
comments like these? We start to lose our focus
on the Lord when we start giving our focus to the
world and its fashions. When being fashionable
and stylish becomes a focus, it becomes a sin and
stumbling block in our faith walk. When this has
become a focal point in a girl's life, all she
can talk about is fashion and seems to be
constantly defending it. Trust me, I've had
experience.

It becomes dangerous when we allow something to
override our godly focus. Why? Well, once we
allow some of the world's lies and ways in our
lives, it becomes easier next time to allow more
deceptions and ungodly ways. Be on your guard
continually against polluting influences; they
will master you if you allow them (Genesis 4:7).
The devil's ways are very subtle; stay alert and
examine everything under the light of the Word.
Constantly focus on the Lord and study His Word
diligently to seek His ways. Please Him, not
yourself or the world. Focus!

Note: This does not mean I believe that dressing
stylishly is sinful. I'm saying check your
motives and make changes. Always try to dress
presentably and honor God with all your life.

Alert: Let's Take Action, NOW!

{A Special Note from Miss Taylor on an Important
Current Issue that May Affect You}

Dear Friends,

This morning I was reminded of these verses:

"If the world hates you, keep in mind it hated
me first. If you belonged to the world, it would
love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong
to the world, but I have chosen you out of the
world. This is why the world hates you.
Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is
greater than his master.' If they persecuted me,
they will also persecute you also. If they
obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.
They will treat you this way because of my name,
for they do not know the One who sent me." (John
15:18-21 NIV);

"For we do not have an enduring city, but we are
looking for the city that is to come." (Hebrews
13:14 NIV);

and also, "For our struggle is not against flesh
and blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the powers of this dark
world and against the forces of evil in the
heavenly realms." (Ephesians 6:12 NIV).

These verses did not come to mind because of my
mother's back gave out, or because I heard
traffic was horrible this morning, or because I
had to make bread in the new bread machine
(though this all did take place). No, it was
alarming news that reached my ear that made me
tremble inwardly and remember this world is not
my home. Horrific, terrible, shocking news.
At 9:30 a.m., we listened to a Focus on the
Family program concerning a grave matter. In
California, it was ruled that homeschooling will
become an illegal practice if the parents do not
have a teacher's credentials. Of course, most
parents do not possess what the state is
requiring and now, over 200,000 students are at
risk and homeschooling parents are in danger of
criminal charges, that is if we do not take
action. For if this becomes a law and since
California has great influence upon the rest of
the nation, what could happen to your family or
your friends? Even if you do not know anyone
homeschooled or who is currently homeschooling,
please stand up for our rights! What can you
do?

1. Pray. Pray continually that God would be
merciful and spare His children this calamity.
Pray continually for our nation (1 Thessonians
5:6-18).

2. Take action. How? Go to http://www.hslda.org
and sign an important petition that will
help 'unpublish' this ruling. You do not have to
a member, but please, for the sake of families
everywhere, sign your name to this petition.

3. Be informed and inform others immediately.
For more information, please visit
http://www.family.org and go to the page
concerning current social issues. Read more
there and tell others what you know about this
cruel
ruling. Tell them to see this blog entry at
http://www.godlygirlhood.zoomshare.com/3.shtml.

4. Prepare yourselves. If you are a
homeschooling
parent and desiring assistance with the
protection of your family, the Home School Legal
Defense Association (HSLDA) can help you. If you
are not a member, please become one at their
website: http://www.hslda.org.

5. Finally, remember, "Do not be anxious about
anything, but in everything, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, present your
requests to God. And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 4:6-7 NIV)

Thank you and God bless.

In His Grip,
Miss Taylor

"In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life
in Christ Jesus will be persecuted while evil men
and imposters will go from bad to worse,
deceiving and being deceived. But as for you,
continue in what you have learned and have been
convinced of..." (2 Timothy 3:12-14a NIV)

Focus (a poem)

Focus-a practice taking learning.
Focus-it requires turning.
Focus-it's attention centered on the cross.
Focus-it'll be my gain, not my loss.
Focus-will keep me on the King.
Focus-to Heaven it will me bring
Focus-this I do acknowledge,
Focus-it will give me knowledge.
Focus-when I am deterred,
Focus-and once again I've erred
Focus-will drive back to the cross
Focus-and be my gain, not loss.
Focus-a practice taking learning.
Focus-it requires turning.
Focus-it's attention on the cross.
Focus-twill be my gain, not loss.

Have You Sacrificed Any 'Issacs' Recently?

In Genesis 22:1-19, we find the story of
Abraham's testing. How was he tested? By being
commanded to sacrifice his one and only son,
Issac. This chapter in my Bible is well-marked,
for I marvel at Abraham's faith. Even though God
had asked him to sacrifice his boy, Abraham
trusted that God would provide a lamb (verses 7-
8) or raise Issac from the dead; for
God repeatedly said throughout His conversations
with him [Abraham] that Issac would have
descendents and from Issac would come the
Savior. Even if the Lord didn't, Abraham belived
God knew best and would work all things out for
good. If Issac needed to die, Abraham trusted
that there was a blessing to come thru this
situation-a better blessing.
**will be further edited when possible**
God tested Abraham's faith through this trial and
found it [his faith] quite strong. Our Heavenly
Father tests us like He did Abraham. He often
asks us to give up our dreams, our loves, our
desires, and what we think best for our lives. I
know the Lord has asked me to sacrifice some of
my dreams (i.e. young ladies Bible study,
newsletter for young women, desires for godly
friends, etc.) in order to stay focused on the
ministry I have in my home and already through
Godly Girlhood. Do you have any "Issacs" you
have to sacrifice? Anything that might hindering
your walk with the Lord? Is there something that
you think is best for your life, but God has
something better for you? Scott Fowler , father
of two, realized this when his oldest son,
Preston, was a baby. Preston had a toy in each
of his hands when he spotted a different toy
lying nearby. He tried to take hold of it, but
of course, he couldn't for his hands were already
full. Scott had been observing this and now
watched as his son started to scream out of
frustration. Scott tried to tell his son that he
just needed to let go of what he had and reach
for the toy he wanted. Later, after thinking
this incident through, he saw this happens in our
relationship with the Lord. We, as His children,
have things (dreams, desires, possessions, jobs,
loved ones, etc.) that we hold in our grasp.
The Lord might has a blessing that He wants to
give us, which we want, but we must give up what
we have in order to take possession of the
blessing. Sometimes, we often think that what's
in our grasp is the best for us, but God always
has something better. Maybe He's asking you to
sacrifice a desire, a dream, a comfort, before He
can give what you really need. Is there
any "Issacs" you need to sacrifice?

Thoughts

My favorite season is autumn and it has
surrounded our home. I look out the window and
see the marvelous colors God has painted the
trees. The crisp air brings back so many
memories...jumping in leaf piles, fall
decorating, raking seemingly endless piles of
leaves, and more. Seasons, life is so much like
the seasons of the earth. Spring, summer, fall,
and winter. In spring, new life begins. The
grass becomes green after being brown for so
long; spring rains water the earth. The birds
sing and everything seems so fresh and exciting.
This is similiar to a person's natural birth and
childhood, and a Christian's regeneration when
the Seed is planted in his or her heart.
Then comes summer, crops are growing in the
field. Heat waves are common. In this season,
strong storms batter and pelt the ground with
rain, hail, and wind. And there are times when
no refreshing rain waters the parched earth.
This can be actually any time in a person's life,
for trials force their way in life at any age.
Same for a Christian's life. This period of hard-
ship and storms is necessary for growth of a
Christian's faith. Remember, without storms and
rain, the 'pleasant' sun will burn up the small
plants of faith. This is the time when we need
to persevere.
Then comes the autumn, when the green leaves turn
into brilliant colors of red, orange, and
yellow. Harvest is cheerfully went about and
there is preparation for the winter. Cooler air
and frost comes along with the fall. In the
latter/middle years of a human's life, gray hairs
are discovered (to the dismay of many:). During
this season, people (also at any time of life)
reap what they have sown throughout the years.
This could be a good harvest, or an extremely
poor and wretched one. So too with Christians:
gray hair shows signs of maturity; spiritual
harvests are being reaped and consequences come
forth; and sometimes, chilling frosts seek to
chill the soul, but with the blanketing strength
of Christ, a Christian can survive.

And winter. Snow, cold, white skys, and dark,
deep nights. Everything is quietly sleeping
through the winter till spring and thaw awakens
them. For many people, this is an unknown time
of life. Snow-white hair greets many, things
quiet down, and not much can be done with old
knees, tired hands, and a ailing body. For all
humans, the end of life seems closer than it has
ever been. Christians eagerly look forward to
the eternal spring which awaits in their Home.

Yes, seasons. Seasons that bring us closer to
God...or farther away. Use your seasons
wisely.

Our Great Purpose

Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life
is? Well, I may not know you personally, but I
can tell you right now what it is. To glorify
God in all you do, say, act, and live.
Colossians 3:17 says in the King James
Version: "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving
thanks to God and the Father by him." Instead of
taking the credit for the result of your God-
given talent-may it be art, music, mathematical
skills, or just having a gift with being good
with people and helpful-give God the glory! You
could say, "I am really grateful God chose to
bless me with this talent to encourage you."
Or, "Give God the glory!" and "Praise the Lord
for His great blessings." Another way you can
give God glory is to live according to His Word.
If He says in His Word you are supposed to love
your neighbor and your enemies (which He does),
do so, and give God glory. Or if He says to keep
yourself pure from worldy influences and immoral
situations (which He does), do so, and give God
glory if someone comments about it. What a
chance to witness when you give God the glory
when people praise you. For who knows? They may
ask you why you give God glory. What a
witnessing opportuntiy! Who says you have to go
overseas to a foreign mission field to witness
and share God's amazing love and grace? :) So
if you are considering your purpose on earth, now
you know. Give God the glory!
